Landscape II is an original contemporary abstract landscape painting. Through layered brushwork, muted earth tones, and expressive marks, I create a landscape that feels both familiar and imagined—an exploration of place shaped by memory, atmosphere, and emotion.
Soft whites sweep across the composition like winding paths, shifting waterways, or changing light, while rich blues, warm ochres, dusty pinks, and muted greens suggest terrain viewed from a distance. I’m interested in the way structured forms and intuitive gestures can work together, inviting the viewer to move through the painting and discover new relationships with each viewing.
I wanted Landscape II to balance energy and restraint—a sense of movement while still maintaining a calm, contemplative feeling. The painting sits somewhere between abstraction and representation, leaving space for the landscape to become whatever the viewer sees in it.
This work is part of my ongoing exploration of landscape and the emotional qualities of the natural world. I’m interested in the way memory can transform what we see into what we feel, and how a landscape can hold onto a feeling even when the specific place becomes unclear.
