Arrangements in Ochre is an original contemporary painting on canvas inspired by the beauty of flowers, gathered objects, and the everyday spaces we create around them. I’m interested in the way a simple arrangement can become something more abstract through color, shape, and gesture. In this painting, recognizable flowers, vessels, chairs, and other forms overlap and shift across the canvas, creating a space that feels both familiar and imagined.
A warm ochre yellow fills much of the composition, creating a luminous backdrop for deep blues, turquoise, lavender, coral, pink, and soft green. The flowers and leaves are loosely painted, while the geometric forms of the furniture and objects create a sense of structure. I like the tension between these more recognizable forms and the areas where the painting begins to break apart into color and brushwork.
